Each and every parent wants to have best qualities in their child. A healthy pregnancy is very necessary to ensure the child’s well-being during and after birth too. Garbhasanskar enables good physical and mental development of the baby.
This knowledge is included in Ayurveda texts. Garbha in Sanskrit refers to the foetus in the womb and Sanskar means the training/education given to the baby.
It is traditionally believed that a child’s mental and behavioral development starts in the womb from the time of conception. It is influenced by the mother’s state of mind while she is pregnant.
This Garbhasanskar practice has been a part of tradition since time immemorial. Modern studies have proved that a fetus (unborn baby) can respond to external stimulus. The hormonal secretions by the mother’s thoughts can also impact the baby in the womb. So Garbhasanskar ensures that the mother is healthy and remains in a positive state of mind during pregnancy after delivery of the child.
Many activities such as changes in diet, good lifestyle including yoga and other exercises, meditation are recommended to pregnant women through the practice of Garbhasanskar. This practice is not only about the care during pregnancy. It covers pre-pregnancy, breastfeeding phase and post delivery care (diet and lifestyle) also.
So according to Ayurveda, Garbhasanskar is one of the best traditional ways to give birth to a healthy (physically and mentally) baby. Its all about the mother maintaining a sound state of mind, which includes mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
In short Garbhasanskar is anything which is done to provide positive energy to the child in the womb during pregnancy.
