
02 May Shirodhara (शिरोधारा )
Shirodhara, an ancient form of medication, is an essential part of Ayurveda. In Shirodhara, warm medicated oil is poured in a continuous stream over the forehead, an area with a high concentration of nerves. The pressure of the oil falling in a steady stream creates vibrations which travel into areas deeper of the brain and induces a feeling of peace and quiet. Soothing the mind and subconsciousness, it’s effect is similar to meditation & yoga. In addition, oil in such large quantities which saturate the forehead and scalp helps remove toxins below the scalp.
As for its benefits, it helps those whose Vata and Pitta doshas. Vata uncontrolled show signs of insecurities, fears and worries. Pitta uncontrolled makes a person continually irritability, angry and suspicion.
Shirodhara is mostly done with medicated blended oil(s/) with or without herbs. It’s even done with buttermilk!
